The federal government is putting a pause on sending free COVID-19 testing kits to Americans due to a lack of funding.
"Ordering through this program will be suspended on Friday, September 2, because Congress hasn't provided additional funding to replenish the nation's stockpile of tests," the ordering website says.
The program will accept orders through Friday.
The White House first began sending out the kits in January.
"We have already distributed over 600 million tests through this program, and every household has had the opportunity to place three orders for a total of 16 tests," White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.
Test kits can still be obtained with reimbursements from private health insurance, Medicare and Medicaid. Kits will also be available for purchase at retailers and pharmacies.
