Physician Wellness
The HCMA Foundation Physician Wellness Program provides a safe harbor for members to address life difficulties, challenges, and increased stress through counseling and coaching services. This complimentary and completely confidential benefit is available for all members, regardless of membership category.
Physician Wellness Program (PWP) usage report:
· The PWP has six providers for counseling and one provider for coaching.
· Since January 2023, twenty-nine therapy sessions and seven coaching sessions have been utilized among four providers.
· Benefits of the PWP are complimentary and available to ALL HCMA members, regardless of membership level.
· The PWP is completely confidential: no identifying reports are submitted, no insurance is filed, and no electronic medical records are kept.
· You are safe here.

Joel Silverfield, MD
After receiving the HCMA’s Outstanding Physician Award, the BayCare newsroom wrote a feature article about Dr. Silverfield, his career in Tampa, and the HCMA award.
When asked about why he became a physician, he stated “It was more of a calling than a job, as it was expected of a physician to sacrifice much of their own needs and desires for those of their patients. I’m still amazed that people would ask me for advice and value what I would tell them. Your patients trust you with their deepest personal secrets, rely on you and look to you to do what is right for them, no matter what.”

December 5th marks the last day at the HCMA for Anni Balckwell. Anni served as Event Coordinator since January 2021. She is on to bigger and better things including being a full-time student at the University of Tampa.
