Understanding the Index

What the Patient Access Index Measures

The Index measures patient search visibility. It does not evaluate the quality of care delivered by a physician or practice.

✓ What It Measures

Patient Discovery and Search Visibility

The Index tracks the searches patients use and shows which practices, hospitals, health systems, and directories appear first. It also reveals which practices have limited visibility or are missing from the results entirely.

× What It Does Not Measure

Clinical Quality or Quality of Care

The Index is not a clinical scorecard and does not determine which physician provides better care. Clinical quality, professional reputation, and search visibility are different measures and should be evaluated separately.

Methodology

A Note on the Data

Rankings are pulled directly from Google through an API from a neutral starting point. No location, search history, or cookies shape the results. That is why what you see here may differ from what appears when you search for yourself.

You may also see a practice listed under a specialty that is not its main focus. That reflects how Google returns results, which the Index reports as-is.

Confidential Practice Review

Start With a Clear Diagnosis of Your Practice’s Visibility

You wouldn’t treat a patient without understanding the problem. Is your practice visible across the channels patients use in your market?

Request a confidential review to see where your practice appears, where it is absent, which competitors patients find instead, and what may be limiting your position.
