Karen Clay, a proud mom and grandma in the Tampa Bay area, was the 2017 recipient of the Hillsborough County Democratic Party Monroe Mack Community Service Award. She and her son, Michael, were recognized by the Tampa City Council for Outstanding Work in Healthcare Advocacy. They appeared on the MSNBC program The Last Word, advocating on behalf of all individuals with disabilities and their right to receive care in their homes and communities.
Karen served for 16 years on the Board of Florida Alliance for Assistive Services & Technology and as Chair of the Public Policy & Advocacy Committee. She also served on the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council, the State Advisory Committee for Exceptional Student Education, and numerous Task Forces.
Join us as Karen shares her and her son’s incredible story while honoring the legacy of Dr. Tapan Padhya and the remarkable physicians who were instrumental in Michael’s care.
